Holidays and Seasons in New York City

Four pages that stay put. Each one holds the concert listings for its window plus a standing guide to how the city actually does that holiday, and each lives at the same URL every year rather than moving to a new one. Bookmark whichever one you want; it will be current when you come back.

Why these four

Halloween and New Year's Eve are the two nights of the year when a New York room becomes an event in itself, and both are badly served by ordinary listings: half of what happens is free, outdoors, or announced two weeks out. Christmas is the opposite problem, a month of listings so dense that Radio City's 230 performances drown out everything else, which is why runs are collapsed into one row here. Hanukkah is on this list despite thin listings because the public lightings are the real event and nothing else indexes them well.

There is no fall or foliage page. The Woodstock calendar runs one because the drive up is the draw. Nobody comes to New York to look at leaves.

What these pages are not

We do not run any of this. Dates, routes and rules come from the organizers and from press reporting, each page says where and when it was checked, and anything carried over from a previous year is labelled as such. Confirm with the organizer before you build a night around it. If something here is wrong or out of date, tell us and it gets fixed.
